163, 165 & 167 Hurontario Street Two-storey, four-bay, buff-brick, with cast-stone trim and recent shop-fronts (c. 1905). Ground Floor Entirely modern shop-fronts in diverse materials, including plastic canopy at no. 163. Original wooden cornice exists at both units, and suggests historic material may remain behind broad fascia at no. 165. Second Floor Buff-brick masonry divided unevenly into two units by central pilaster, without pilasters terminating north or south ends. Windows have cast-stone sills and elliptical-arch heads of rubbed-brick voussoirs. Windows are replacement double-hung, below divided-light transom at 163 and below painted plywood transoms at 165. Very wide machicolations above, with narrow recesses between, support stringcourse of cast-stone. Parapet Frieze is of unornamented brick, punctured by two large vents below original, shallow, metal cornice. A clumsy aluminum flashing caps parapet. |
