210 Hurontario Street

Two-storey, two-bay, red-brick building with wide, upper-level, elliptical arches framing stained-glass transom windows (c. 1900).

Ground Floor – Little seems to remain of traditional shop-front, though vast fascia/sign may hide something older and an original cornice may remain in simple box above. Present shop-front has varying pane-widths in aluminum frames over low concrete plinth. Doors are at extreme RH side, with door to upper floor (at extreme RH side) being most unsuitable, pressed-metal, six-panel replacement.

Second Floor – Bays contain central, elliptical apertures with triple, 1/1 windows having taller lower sashes (behind aluminum storms) and with original, stained-glass, stained-glass, transom windows above. Peripheral hood mouldings extend beyond springing lines to form stringcourse between pilasters. Settlement is apparent at lower, LH and RH sides and, particularly, at voussoirs of RH side window. At parapet, shallow machicolation brings recessed wall-plane out to face of pilasters. Small, stone-capped piers rise above parapet at either side, while brickwork between is capped with heavy, galvanized metal flashing.
