247 Hurontario Street

One-storey, post-modern, red-brick bank, with base and corner tower of pre-cast stone (2002).

Description – Post-modern corner building has sprung into existence during protracted course of preparation of this Inventory, and is thus the newest kid in Town. Drive-through funcion at rear is probably the real front of the building, but is effectively removed from Main Street. Pre-cast stone tower, with recessed panels within north and west walls, effectively marks the corner. Adjacent, red-brick elevation has precast-concrete (Arriscraft stone?) base with torus moulding at window sill height, and with continuous soldier-course band above hidden steel lintels. Fenestration throughout west and north elevations is in ABA rhythm above and below, with larger lower and central sashes. Parapet is adorned with rendered Styrofoam cornice (known as the E.I.F.S. system), the latest alternative to older materials of terra cotta and sheet metal.
