58 Hurontario Street Narrow, two-storey, two-bay, (repointed) dichromatic brick building with multiple, corbelled voussoirs at round-headed arches, and (inappropriately) rebuilt parapet. (c. 1900). Ground Floor Set between brick piers with stone bases and capitals, aluminum-clad shop-front is nondescript. Door to left, with large oval window and plated brass hardware, is incongruous. At upper shop-front level, typical curved, plastic canopy obscures very deep fascia, above which part of original shop-front cornice remains, extending between ornate, scrolled and incised stone brackets at piers. Second Floor Two round-headed windows occupy single bay of red-brick masonry. Joints have been so enthusiastically cut out and repointed that actual shade of wall is paler. Window heads comprise double band of corbelled, rowlock voussoirs within outer hood-moulding, all built off brick imposts, and having profiled brick keystones. Windows are fixed, round-headed replacement, over the unfortunate bottom-sliders, with original stone sills below. Parapet Fully rebuilt, as at building to north, again with incongruous projecting piers above stone pilaster capitals. Virtually all decorative elements were eliminated at time of rebuilding, although minor, (non-original) decorative elements remain.
