167 Minnesota Street - Plan 282 Lt. 22, 24 to 26 & Pt. 27, 28 & Pt Lane RP 51R11483 Parts 1 & 2, By-law No. 80-1 This large 2 ½ storey brick residence is an excellent restored example of Queen Anne Revival architecture common in the late 1800’s. Built for prominent Collingwood resident Charles E. Stephens, by the local Bryan Manufacturing Company in 1901, this home boasts tall brick chimneys laid in the stretcher bond fashion, a broad shaped veranda consisting of double turned columns on carved piers with decorated rail and arches as well as many wall design features on the front façade. Three of these features include; entablature over the keystones across the front gable, 3 belt courses on the front façade consisting of cut stone and moulded brick and decorative shingles on the turret across the front gable. The residence contains a variety of window types. The main window is semicircular while other examples include quarter round, palladium and stained glass. Well known by the citizens of Collingwood’s past this tastefully restored Victorian home is a tribute to our local industries and workers. The fact that its front façade has changed little since its construction makes it a valuable part of Collingwood’s architectural heritage.
