110 Pine Street

– 2½ storey, Italianate, dichromatic red-brick house with multiple bays and gables (c. 1890).

Façade RH side – Broad, half-glazed, 3-panelled door between round-headed sidelights, each with two wooden panels below, and below 3-pane, transom window having leaded lights. Aperture has broad, segmental arch of rubbed, buff-brick voussoirs and hood-moulding, both of which drop at upper jambs to band-course of upper and lower, buff-brick stretchers with red-brick dog-toothing between. At second floor are pair of 2/2 windows, with wooden mullion between. Segmental, buff-brick arch, hood-moulding and band-course areas at ground floor. Spandrel panel above widows has filigree woodwork. Small gable has peak decorated with panels of “Xs and Os”, with deep mouldings at fascias above and below.

Façade LH side – Similar elements are grouped differently. Ground floor, brick, bay window has 1/1 windows in segmental arches, with rectangular-plan roof above having small wooden pediment (housing planted, wooden, sun-burst motif) over central window. At second floor, bay becomes rectangular in plan, with paired, 1/1 windows separated by wooden mullion, all within segmental, buff-brick arch as previously described, and with filigree woodwork in spandrel panel above. Bay is crowned by bracketed, wooden frieze and wooden cornice. At third floor, gabled dormer, with replacement lunette with clumsy hopper sash, crowns bay below. Gable fascia, built off decorative brackets at front and sides, is richly decorated, with deep mouldings above and planted battens forming coffers below. Ball-finials are missing from bottom of gable fascias and, again, peak is again decorated with “Xs and Os”.

Roof – Hipped roof, clad with black asphalt shingles, is broken by pitches of front gables, and ends with broad, transverse ridge at peak. Soffits of beaded boards are supported by wooden brackets as at dormer, all set above upper-level, brick belt-course.
