84 Ontario Street

One-storey, symmetrical, (painted) red-brick, hip-roofed house with later, steeply pitched, projecting central gable and segmental wooden canopy at entry (c. 1870).


Description – Modest house sits on local-stone foundation with brick plinth above. Lateral windows are square-headed 2/2 (behind aluminum storms), with wooden sills and plain, segmental arches. Central, projecting bay is clad in finely spaced aluminum siding and has segmental-arch canopy built off small wooden brackets at entry. Doorway is framed by broad, wooden casings, with simple triangulated casing above. Door is oak-veneered slab-type with tall central window (behind glazed, metal storm-door). Upper gable contains small, four-pane oculus in simple frame, and gable has thin, unornamented fascia with slight bell-cast at eaves. Soffits are aluminum-clad throughout, and roof is clad in grey, asphalt shingles.
